Albums
The discography of American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, as well as several compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.
Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggsalbum in 1975 Silk Degrees. The collaboration led to the formation of Toto in the year 1976.
The third album of Toto, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their earlier efforts and was criticized for its absence of hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen left the group, and they held auditions to find a new frontman. The band selected guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in the year 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band. The band went through old tapes and recordings to create the album. The album was well-received by fans, and Toto began the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem Von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live album titled Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour and an interview with Toto.

The band decided to let him leave at the end of the tour, and they hired guitarist and singer Joseph Williams in his place. Drummer David Hungate also left the band following the tour. Leland Sklar took over his place.

The song "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. It was written by band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge hit in Europe and a variety of other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their popularity following their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in the United States.
After the album, Toto went on a world tour. The group featured touring musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham and Shem von Schroeck. Steve Lukather also released his second solo album, Luke.
In 1985, Fergie Frederiksen, Toto's drummer, left the group due to personal reasons. The group decided to conduct an audition and ultimately chose Joseph Williams to replace Frederiksen.
Before and during the formation of Toto its members, they did sessions for many artists. Toto was formed after Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and Boz Scaggs recorded Silk Degrees. Keyboardist Paich was frequent on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.
In 1998, Toto started working on the project titled Old Is New. This album featured three new tracks as well as several finished recordings of songs from the past. The album received a lot of attention all over the world and the band went on a worldwide tour to promote it.

Toto known for the popular song "Africa" The group recently reunited to promote their new album, All In. The album came out on November 6, 2018, and included three brand new tracks from the upcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun, as well as completed recordings of four older tracks featuring Jeff Porcaro on drums and either Mike or Steve Porcaro on bass. The album also included a cover of Weezer's song "Hash Pipe" which the band opted to include after hearing a rendition on the radio.
